Children of all ages are welcome on the slopes at Ski Banff-Lake Louise-Sunshine.
For those too young to ski, all three resorts offer a daycare program.
Lake Louise cares for infants over 18 days old to pre-school children
six and under. Sunshine Village and Ski Norquay offer programs for children
aged 19 months to six years each with a fun day of indoor and outdoor
activities, a balanced lunch and snacks.
For children eager to learn the sport, one of the most positive ways
to introduce skiing is with the patient, child-certified instructors
at the resorts. For older children already familiar with the slopes,
all resorts have specially selected and trained instructors to bring out
the best in kids. Innovative beginner programs for those who are new to
the sport and small group workshops and private sessions for the experienced.
Either way, kids laugh and play while they learn to be better skiers
and riders in a safe and well organized environment.
Ski Norquay
Ski Norquay is often praised for its family friendly layout. Parents
can relax in the lodge and watch their children come down the slopes.
Lessons are available at Ski Norquay in combination with the daycare
or in small groups.
Lake Louise Mountain Resort
At Lake Louise, try KinderSki. This program helps children between
the ages of three and four get used to the idea of skis and balance on
the hill. Children can also make use of the Minute Maid Wilderness Adventure
Park to gain balance and confidence while making their time at the resort
entertaining as well as educational. The park includes animal cut-outs
of bears, mountain goats, wolves, lynx, ravens and wolverines so children
can learn to recognize animal signs in the wild.
The resort now offers a new ski and snowboard teen program. Designed
to offer teens aged 13 to 17 with an alternative program to traditional
race clubs, teens learn how to master steep off piste terrain, basic airs,
choosing a line, identifying hazards and basic park riding. Presented by
full-time CSIA/CASI certified instructors, the curriculum is presented
in a teen only format achieving learning and results in a fun, non-traditional
setting.
Sunshine Village
For a gentle blend of daycare and lessons try Tiny Tigers Ski & Play
program at Sunshine Village. Groups are a maximum size of three and
children spend approximately one hour skiing in the morning and again in
the afternoon with their instructor, plus all the indoor and outdoor activities
the daycare has to offer.
For teenagers try a Sunshine Mountain Rider workshop. The program is
designed specifically for teens of all levels looking to increase their
skill and technique in the terrain park, trees, chutes and more.
Sunshine Village offers a unique ski and snowboard adaptive program developed
to enable people with disabilities to experience snowsports. The program
offers lessons and equipment catering to all ability levels and a wide
range of physical, cognitive and developmental disabilities.
Childcare connection
Childcare Connection is a Banff-based organization providing
reliable, experienced childcare for guests in the Banff area. Childcare
Connection is not affiliated with the ski resorts however, caregivers
will come to your hotel or condo to provide childcare while you enjoy
the slopes.
